Inspired by the Olympics?

The 2012 Summer Olympics are upon us, and you know what that means. Many of us, all over the world, will probably start feeling grossly inadequate about the condition our bodies are in when faced with viewing Olympic contenders who personify the ultimate in physical fitness.  We’ll be making promises to ourselves to get back on that exercise routine we abandoned, or resume that diet we put on hold, and start giving serious thought, once again, to getting in shape.

Beginning on July 27th and  continuing through August 12th, we’ll be witnessing the world’s most extraordinary individuals who represent the highest levels of discipline, dedication and determination.

I wouldn’t be surprised if health club memberships spike significantly during the Olympics, as well intentioned members are motivated by the Olympic athletes to push themselves further than they ever have.

As for me, I’ll probably be watching the Olympics while lounging on my sofa. Thoughts of stepping up my exercising and cutting back on high calorie foods might fleetingly cross my mind,  just as they do every other day of my life, but in reality, sometimes I might do the right thing, and other times not.

Are you inspired? See if you know what it takes to become a top athlete by taking our Olympics quiz, Go for the Gold.
