This was a great week for me! I’ve started swimming at the gym and am loving it. (Really, can you think of a better way to do cardio in the summertime?) Okay, not just swimming. The pool, which never gets deeper than about four-and-a-half feet, also has lanes for walking. Yes, walking! (Have you ever walked through chest-high water? It’s not easy.) So I alternate between laps of stroking and striding. It’s an awesome cardio workout.
I’ve also continued to power through the latest strength routine created by trainer Wendy Batts for my workout pleasure (ha!). I can feel my whole body getting firmer and stronger—and I’m especially talking about my middle. That’s really no surprise, because the moves Wendy’s been putting me through (like push-ups, kneeling chops and stability ball rows) continue to be seriously core-focused. See for yourself by watching my Week 4 workout below. Then I challenge you to sweat through the routine yourself two or three times this week!
In addition to all that exercise, I was also extra-careful about what I ate. And lo and behold, I lost almost 5 pounds this week!
Great news, right? Well, sort of. The thing is, Jody thinks this is a fluke—and to be honest, I do too. That’s the kind of number you expect to see at the beginning of a weight loss plan, not this many months into it. I know I should be rejoicing, but I have a feeling a lot of it is water weight. This past week was a hot one, and I spent a lot of active time outdoors. You know what that means—sweat city! And that watery kind of weight loss doesn’t tend to last, so I’m already a little worried about what the scale will say next week.
I am nine months into my new lifestyle, so you’d think I’d be more confident. But that will come in time, I know—especially with your help!
