3 Summer Safety Tips
This week as we near Memorial Day—the unofficial start of summer—we take a look at summer safety. Leigh Vinocur, MD, a specialist in emergency medicine, shares three tips to keep you happy, healthy and safe this holiday weekend—and all summer long:
- Beware of bacteria. Whether you’re swimming in a pool, lake or ocean there may be bacteria lurking in the water. In this video, Vinocur gives tips on how to avoid getting sick while swimming.
- Avoid heat exhaustion. Learn the signs and the treatment for heat exhaustion in this video.
- Study up on poisonous plants. You know the rule: “Leaves of three, let it be.” But if you happen to come in contact with poison ivy, poison oak or sumac, here’s what to do.
