Treadmill Talks: Can Drinking Soda Give You a Stroke?
We already associate drinking soda with other bad health habits. But can a soft drink actually increase your risk of having a stroke? In this Treadmill Talk, Sharecare expert Dr. Michael Roizen, chief wellness officer for Cleveland Clinic, and chair of its Wellness Institute, tells you why you might want to ditch that soda and pick up a cup of joe instead.

Being type two diabetic, I had switched to diet soda and had muscle pain so I started drinking regular soda and the muscle pain stopped. Plus I noticed a weight gain so in on Jan. 11th this year I stopped drinking soda and eating candy and I have noticed my big bellie is going away and I breath better and have more energy. I drink about 4 cups of coffee a week.
My H1AC has dropped from 10.5 to an average of 4.5 to 5. My blood sugar stays between 87 and 112. But the main reason is I have a very good Doctor and he knows what he doing and I trust him completely. I’m sure my chance of stroke and heart problems has decreased because I do what my Doctor advises me to do.
The point is everyone should listen to their Doctor and if they are having a problem with a medication, let him know about it.
I can related to SO many of these! I was able to go cold tukery with soda for two weeks and then another set of two weeks. I seem to have a bit of a problem when I’m out with friends since I don’t drink alcohol. Let me know if you ever find a way to fully quit
