Today’s healthy transformer is Mary Secord, a mother of three and grandmother of 10 from Iowa. Mary is a newcomer to Transformation Nation, and is attacking this weight loss challenge with gusto.
Weight lost: “I signed up on January 23rd and have lost 3.4 lbs!”
Transformation Nation goal: “My goal is losing 10 percent of my body weight, which is 24 lbs.”
Aspect of Transformation Nation that works best: “Transformation Nation is giving me nutrition tips right at my finger tips on my phone. I also enjoy interacting with Sharecare on Facebook.”
Surprising thing she’s discovered as a result of Transformation Nation: “My biggest self discovery is that I am an emotional eater. I track my food and activity in a journal, so I can take the emotion out of eating and focus on nurturing my body.”
Breakfast of choice: “My favorite is a two egg omelet with Canadian bacon, spinach and reduced fat Colby jack cheese.”
Exercise she enjoys the most: “I love walking my dog! I do not like to exercise in public, so I have a home gym with a stationary bike.”
“Downfall” food and how she avoids it: “I crave pies, cakes, cookies and buttered bread rolls. They are my downfall. I overcome by indulging in Weight Watchers smart foods!”
What is driving her to keep going: “My motivation is this summer I turn the big 6-0 and I have two grandchildren that are graduating from high school.”
How she keeps her energy up: “I drink a glass of skim milk after exercise.”
Her mantra: “Dreaming does matter. It allows you to become that which you aspire to be.”
