Today’s healthy transformer is Julianne, a step mom of two from Pennsylvania. We love that she shares the same heart-healthy diet as her husband, as well as her enthusiastic approach to weight loss.
Weight lost: “I have lost 8 pounds since mid-November on Weight Watchers.”
Biggest Hurdle: “The biggest hurdle for me has been finding the right weight loss plan. I have stayed active through the years, but eating the right foods and amounts has been a challenge.”
Most proud of: “I am finally losing weight.”
Aspect of Transformation Nation that works best: “I am thrilled with the Weight Watchers program! I go to the meetings every week and I use all of the online e-tools. I track EVERYTHING.”
Surprising thing she’s discovered as a result of Transformation Nation: “I was afraid that I’d never be able to lose weight again…that all of the other crazy diets I tried had ruined my metabolism.”
Breakfast of choice: “One egg, a piece of fruit, a glass of skim milk, and a homemade pumpkin muffin that is only 2 Weight Watchers points.”
One change that’s made the most difference: “I consistently track everything that I eat.”
How she tracks her weight loss: “I use Weight Watchers e-tools and the Weight Watchers app on my Droid.”
Exercise she is doing most: “I walk fast on the treadmill for one-half hour every day before work. I am also a Stand-Up Paddleboarder (SUP). I SUP in the warmer weather.”
“Downfall” food and how she avoids it: “My downfall food is chocolate and I must keep it out of sight and out of mind. Also, when I eat chocolate, I insist on tracking every ounce!”
Secrets to fighting food cravings: “Tracking keeps me honest with myself.”
What is driving her to keep going: “I have an important anniversary approaching, and I’d like to make my goal by that date.”
Has her weight loss slowed down: “My weight loss has never been fast, even with the new PointsPlus guidelines. I am taking my time so it STAYS OFF! I feel that I’m re-creating my lifestyle.”
How she keeps her energy up: “I get 7-8 hours of sleep every night, and I exercise daily.”
How she avoids gaining weight on vacation: “My husband and I went on a cruise over the holidays, and we ate only the heart-healthy meals in the dining room. Neither one of us gained any weight! And, I tracked everything!”
How she keeps her family healthy: “My husband is a heart-valve transplant and is highly disciplined about eating low-fat and fat-free foods, so I have a lot of great recipes for holiday eating. I also had a great time using Weight Watchers recipes for our Super Bowl snacks! I am now keeping a cookbook of just the things that we eat.”
