Michelle Keating: How I Lost 11 Lbs

Today’s healthy transformer is Michele Keating, a New Jersey teacher and mother of four. We met Keating last fall when she began Dr. Oz’s Transformation Nation Challenge. We love her “no-excuses” weight-loss plan. It’s working!

Weight lost: 11 lbs.

Visible results: Has lost half an inch around the waist

Biggest hurdle “Getting enough sleep. With a two-year-old it can be difficult to get a full night of uninterrupted sleep, but I have been trying to get to bed a little bit earlier at least three nights a week.”

Most proud of: “Not allowing myself excuses not to stay on plan!”

Aspect of Transformation Nation that is working best: “Starting new fitness habits. After talking with a personal trainer, I added new more challenging moves to my cardio- and weight-training routines. I am scheduling my fitness for the week and not allowing myself excuses to skip a workout.

One change that has made a big difference: “Planning my meals for the week. I use the Weight Watchers points tracker online, and I track my meals for the week ahead of time.”

Exercise she is doing this most: Jogging combined with running stairs.

Secrets to fighting food cravings? “I plan healthy snacks during the day like laughing cow cheese spread on celery, carrots and hummus, fruit, hot tea and 1/2 Vitamuffin Vitatops.

What is driving her to keep going: “I want to be healthy and active to keep up with my children.”

Her mantra: “Excuse-proof your life!”

Tell us your favorite excuse-busters and how you’ve transformed!

    Congratulations Michele!!
I know first hand what its like running after a two year old and not getting enough sleep. Not to mention, I work 12 hour night shifts. So when I get home in the morning, I pray that my son will sleep a couple of more hours so I can at least nap for a while. Either way, its tough.
Today is the end of my first week after rejoining Weight Watchers. I’ve lost 5 pounds! Im so proud of myself. I love the mobile app and I love to track the food I eat. I too, pre-plan my meals ahead of time so I know I won’t go over my points.
Great job on your success and keep up the good work.

Congrats Michelle! you are doing great!
I plan all my meals in the beginning of the day by putting them in the tracker. i hit my points value and then when i work out i use my Activity points. by planning my day out i am more apt to stay on track and not deviate from the plan. In 2011 i lost 45 lbs total, 23 of it as part of the Transformation Nation program and i have 20 more to go to hit my goal!!!! you are right NO EXCUSES!!!! Lets do this!
