Top 3 Resolutions For Me-Time

When creating the top resolutions for 2012, the experts at Sharecare and our friends at DailyStrength realized some of the most popular resolutions involved Y-O-U. Be selfish. Be healthy. Have a happy year, and enjoy some quality me-time.

1. Get More Sleep
I don’t know about you, but if I don’t get enough sleep, I could easily be mistaken for a zombie on “The Walking Dead.” Dr. Breus says 7-9 hours of sleep a night is best. If you’re having trouble getting enough sleep, Dr. Roizen suggests maintaining a sleep schedule, sleeping in a cool and dark room and eating small portions before bed that include melatonin such as oats, sweet corn or rice.

2. Work Out More
Many people have said the phrase “I never regret working out, but I’ve always regretted NOT working out.” That’s because exercise gives us those mood boosters to get us through tough weeks. NASM Elite Trainer Phil Holbrook says, “Research has proven time and time again that consistent exercise does improve mood and depression.” If you get at least thirty minutes of exercise three to five days a week, you can improve your mood.

3. Eat Healthier
Many of us work through lunch, sneaking a bite or two of a protein bar while we type away at our computers. Don’t do it! If 2012 is all about Y-O-U, then take a walk or go to a salad bar for a healthy lunch. Eating alone at a desk may make you dip into the chocolate stash!
