Today, we’re kicking off 31 days of holiday health tips.
If you’re like me, your joints don’t like cold weather. My knees, in particular, like to make noise when I’m not treating them right i.e. I’ve put on some holiday pounds (every pound gained puts at least double that amount of stress on your knees) or I’ve done an impromptu slide-squat-lunge combination getting from the car to the backdoor on my icy driveway (with my hands full of shopping bags).
2. I’m not letting the crazy business of the holiday season get in the way of my exercise routine.
3. Because my knees stiffen up in the cold, I have started doing stretching/strengthening exercises to reduce pain and stiffness.
4. To keep on top of my knee pain and discover new ways to prevent it, I’m taking this knee pain assessment.
5. I’m asking for a foam roller for Christmas after being inspired by National Academy of Sports Medicine: “Foam rolling is a form of self-massage that can help relax tight muscles before you stretch them.” I can just picture myself foam rolling away in front of the fire on Christmas Day.
