Weight Watcher Weigh-in

I Weighed In. Did You?

Stepping on the scale is not usually very exciting for me, but yesterday was different. I did a free weigh-in at my local Weight Watchers for the Dr. Oz Transformation Nation contest!

The process was incredibly simple and the WW associate was super-helpful. She reminded me to tell my friends that they can do their free weigh-in anytime between now and February 26, 2012 (Refer a Friend is the first step in the Transformation Nation program; I’m telling all of you!).

Just walk into any Weight Watchers location and they will weigh you and mark it down on an official Transformation Nation form. Hold onto that piece of paper because you’ll need it to be eligible for the $1 million prize! While you’re at WW you can sit in on a meeting—for free!

When you get back to your computer, enter your Weight Watchers verified starting weight into the Transformation Nation program. You’ll have another official free weigh-in at Weight Watchers the week of April 2 to April 9 to see how well you’ve done!

My goal is to lose at least 25 pounds. The Transformation Nation rules require a 10% weight loss or reaching a health BMI, but I think I can do better than that and still stay within a safe weight-loss range of losing 1-2 pounds a week. My BMI (you can calculate yours when you join Transformation Nation here) should be in the mid-20s and, Oh boy, it is NOT.

Just weighing in made me feel like I’d taken a great step forward and I’m hoping to keep up that momentum. Change, it turns out, begets change. Make one move in the direction of a healthier life and the next one will be even easier, according to clinical psychologist Deirdre Barrett, author of Waistland, The (R)evolutionary Science Behind Our Weight and Fitness Crisis. “If you make one change successfully, it’s a little easier to make the next change,” she says.

I’m counting on this being true since my willpower is still in the wobbly stage (like my thighs). It also helps that Transformation Nation is a simple step-by-step program. I can learn new habits that will help me get more sleep, lower my stress and develop better fitness habits. I can also tap into Sharecare Fitness for inspiring get-fit videos and helpful weight-loss advice.

Please join me (go weigh in!) and we can transform together.

Yes and it felt good to be 164 I don’t know if I can get 16 more pounds off but I’m going to do all I can. I wasn’t invited to sit in on a free meeting they just asked me to join and when I said “I really don’t know much about you” they had me go on the scale and gave me my paperwork and said I was done.

I am unable to complete the transformation entry. I don’t see what piece I am missing. If It sharecare, then it’s not receiving any instruction on what to do. I joined this transformation through weight watchers.

After one week on the WW program I weighed-in…Lost 4.8 lbs…Now I did take off my shoes (a requirement) so minus 2lbs (shoes) that is a good loss…I already feel better…I follow the WW program in the ’70s and reached my goal but over time I put the weight back on and then some…This is a much easier program to follow…I plan to stay on this program so I can throw away my cane, sit on the floor and get up with calling 911, walk on the beach again, go bird watching, learn line dancing…..Lots to look forward to…Thanks for the insperation…

    Blessings, Paula

I already belong to Weight Watchers and have lost 20 lbs. My goal is to lose another 40 lbs. It has been really helpful and supportive to be in Weight Watchers. I had my recheck with my doctor just recently with my blood pressure and cholestrol check and he was very pleased with the weight loss and the improvement in my numbers already with the 20 lbs I have recently lost. I hope this still enables me to join in the challenge with the Dr. Oz transformation program. I am walking more and have also joined a Water Aerobics evening class.

I’m really excited about being involved on such a positive approach to weight loss. Not only will I benefit by loosing the wieght I’ve carried around for over 20 years but will also reduce the high cholesterol results that I take medication for. I’m planning on preparing nutritious meals for my spouse who lives in denial with his weight problems, has several co-morbidities & lack of motivation. Thank You Dr. OZ !!!

Yes, I have weighed in and have been a Weight Wathcers member on and off since 1999. With my profession as a Perioperative Educator who oversees 2 separate hospitals and 1 ambulatory surgery center, I find that my stress level is almost umbearable most days and that I am going down hill physically and am totally physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted at the end of the day. It takes a weekend off to recover from the week. I do have some physicall disabilities now and trying to work at this schedule with them is getting increasinly impossible. I was an athlete and so active till I was 52 yrs. old and since starting to work for this healthcare organization my health has slowly gone downhill and I have no personal life. It is all work and no play.
    Thanks for listening.
    Sincerely,
    Susan Perreira

I am very excited about the program as I am following the Challenge. Since I am from Canada, I cannot participate; however, I am doing it for “my life”. It helps me keep focus, have the resources that I need, be in touch with the Elite Team Trainers, which is very positive and supportive. I would tell everybody to follow. It is so great, and what an opportunity I stumbled upon. Thank you Doctor Oz as well to all those at Sharecare. I also joined Weight Watcher on-line. Every thing is there!. Have a Great Day!. RL/lv

I know what I weigh and It has nothing to do with what I eat. I live a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle. But I suffer from many what I call genetic illnesses. Fibromyalgia, Migraines, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Hypothyroidism, Sleep Apnea, Scoliosis, Ankylosing spondylitis, Degenerative Disc disease and bulging discs in my lumbar, tethered spinal cord, and just plain chronic pain.

I don’t have diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and the other problems usually related with morbid obesity. Just recently I found I was hypothyroid. But what put the weight on me was the meds for my arthritis pain: gabapentin and prednisone. Those alone put 100lbs on me.

I have been trying to lose weight. I had surgery last year for a torn meniscus pad in my right knee. Now in November, a year later, I will have the same surgery in my left knee.

Now with two messed up knees, a messed up back, and my heels feeling like the bone wants to come through the skin, it’s going to be very difficult to lose weight in spite of the thyroid meds.

But I’m not discouraged. I have a free pass for YMCA and after surgery, I will be going through rehab that has a very nice hot pool. That I have to look forward to. I love the water.

BTW: For sleep, you neglect to mention that people can wear sleep masks at bed to block out light. I do that and get better sleep that way. I tell my members to get sleep masks so they can get into delta sleep to regenerate the hormones that fight pain signals in fibromyalgia.

I have been a member of WW for 3 yrs. Originally lost 90lbs gaining back 20 after back surgery. Never stopped going to meetings though. I feel I need to really get focused on my WW program, with what I put in my mouth, start excercising (but a little afraid due to my back), and really start keeping better tracking records. I joined this journey today and am ready to commit. However I guess I need to make a dr. appt. Hopefully I can get in soon. Does this keep me from officially joining? Also I couldn’t get the little check mark to check after putting in all of my WW information. I don’t know what I am doing wrong….plz help! Me….and computers don’t mix very well. LOL…..I am so excited and happy to meet you all. Good Luck!
